My days at Honeywell Madurai

Now a day I really love to blog. The reason might be simple, I am highly jobless. I've decided to part myself from Honeywell and now spending time updating myself and sharing my knowledge to my team. From the various opportunities I've pursued and continuing to do so, I find more and more focus towards UML / OOAD / Design Patterns / Process and other non language related stuffs. This was a real surprise for me as I was more concentrated towards .Net and C#. But really lucky I am that I've started my career with Honeywell. The people around, the environment and even my project stress towards these non language aspects. Now I've really started realizing that I actually knew all these things but educated in an informal way. While updating myself I realize that I lack only in terms of "naming" a certain concept rather than knowing what it is. It was really fun during my training period at Honeywell. Even me joining here was so much surprise. Out of college I was l...

Towards the edge of Tamil Nadu

It was long since a trip, every time we ended up scrapping our plans cos of guys not able to make it up. This time we re-looked at our strategy. Having around 15 members in our Sabhai, it’s obvious that there could be dropouts. We considered a trip if just over 5 could make it up. We had 6 of us traveling towards Ramanadapuram / Rameswaram on 6th of January (Saturday) morning. Explorers are we and hence not with a particular travel plan. Just the destination in hand we reached Ramnad the district headquarters, about 120 kilo meters from Madurai. We were cautioned that all rooms could be blocked over weekend at Rameswaram and so to be proactive. We called up one of our colleague, a local of Ramnad; he has good contacts over people at Rameswaram. Lucky were we when he too was in Ramnad (to visit his family) on the day to help us charting out a plan. Before we met with our colleague we stopped at Devipattinam (Navapasanam) . This place is famous for the navagrahas (9 worshiped planets o...

Rules Of The Road, Indian Style

I read this from some travel blog (quoted at the end). Was really funny reading. Indian trafic through the eyes of a foreigner. --- Traveling on Indian Roads is an almost hallucinatory potion of sound, spectacle and experience. It is frequently heart-rending, sometimes hilarious, mostly exhilarating, always unforgettable -- and, when you are on the roads, extremely dangerous. Most Indian road users observe a version of the Highway Code based on a Sanskrit text. These 12 rules of the Indian road are published for the first time in English: ARTICLE I The assumption of immortality is required of all road users. ARTICLE II Indian traffic, like Indian society,is structured on a strict caste system. The following precedence must be accorded at all times. In descending order, give way to: Cows, elephants, heavy trucks, buses, official cars, camels, light trucks, buffalo, jeeps, ox-carts, private cars, motorcycles, scooters, auto-rickshaws, pigs, pedal rickshaws, goats, bicycles (goods-carryin...

Exploring Goa ...

To start up, i was searching for some thing epic. I wrote this for one of our internal corporate magazine. We've a gang, calls ourselves SABHAI (Indian word meaning COURT where people gather / discuss / decide). Our motto - "Explore". SABHAI started with guys (15 of us) from inside Honeywell , simply put our cube / batch / floor mets. Time moved and so did our guys. New jobs / New places but still one SABHAI. Now Based on diff locations / diff companies we continue our Explorations. Explorers are we, intrepid and bold, out in the wild, amongst wonders untold, equipped with our wits, a map and a snack, we’re searching for fun and we’re on the rite track! - From, Calvin and Hobbes Started of as a plan in a b’day treat 3 months ago, we concluded for a trip that would last in our mind for long. “Goa” was in our tour plans for months together. Finally we decided Independence Day was the right time. Fixed for execution, we booked our tickets exactly a month ago. We were lucky t...
